Pilates is a controlled method of movement designed to build both strength and flexibility. The movement practice is rooted in the mind + body connection.
Joseph Pilates developed the original thirty-four mat exercises in his book "Return to Life Through Contrology". Our movements are based on these thirty-four exercises and adapted to various equipment, body condition, and methodologies. The purpose of Pilates is to aid in proper alignment, build strength, develop length and stabilize & mobilize in ways to differentiate movement.
Types of equipment used may include; a 3-5mm+ yoga mat, foam roller, reformer, pilates chair, arc barrel, tower or springboard, and much more!
Pilates is for everyBODY, at any age, of any ability but please consult your trusted healthcare team to make informed decisions about your practice protocols. It is also best practice to listen to your body and honor what it is telling you.
Mind + body well-being, happiness, improved energy, ease of movement, flexibility and balanced strength.
